Hi I’m Linda Higgins. Thanks for stopping by. I’m the founder of Ten Things I Love. I am also an author, inspirational writer and poet. The quote below pretty much sums up what this particular blog is all about.
Appreciation can make a day – even change your life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary. – Margaret Cousins
Ten Things I Love is simply a platform that allows me to pay tribute to people, places and things I love. It was inspired by something that happened on June 25, 2009. That was the day Michael Jackson died. His death changed my life profoundly.
Shortly after his passing, I joined the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait as a volunteer team member, where I was given a blog in which to write. I began using my blog to express my thoughts and feelings about all the things I had come to appreciate about him; his music, his talent, his humanitarian work, and the impact he had on the world. Things that I found meaningful, significant and worth appreciating. In doing so, I made a great discovery.
There’s something magical that happens inside you when you reflect on what you love, admire and appreciate about someone or something. It has an amazingly positive effect on your energy, and if you can find a way to express the appreciation you are feeling, even better. It will make your spirit come alive. At least, it did for me.
One day I stumbled across an article that asked the question: “Do we have to die to be appreciated?” That’s when a light bulb went off for Ten Things I Love. We definitely shouldn’t have to die to be appreciated, but that’s usually what happens. As a society we tend to not fully appreciate people until they are gone. I want to change that. I want to appreciate people while they are still here, not just after they are gone.
Therefore, that’s what Ten Things I love is all about.
Paying tribute to people, places and things I love.
I’m a huge music lover, so you will find a lot of posts about artists and musicians I love.
